Question from a dear friend: Do I need to use a router with DSL? Also, CAN I use a router with DSL? What, if any, advantage would there be? Thank you.

You only need a router if you have a network.
If you only have one computer connected to DSL, then a DSL modem will do.
I have a DSL through Qwest, as well as a wireless network.
Qwest provided a combo modem/router called a wireless gateway.
It is made by Actiontec
Procols of the DSL ISP must be supported by the router, so you cannot just get any old router.
Check with your ISP first.
