It is easy to use a PowerPoint presentation as a slide show. Here's how to do it using PowerPoint 2007.
First, open your presentation in PowerPoint. There are two kinds of PowerPoint files. Presentation files open for editing when you double-click them. Slideshow files play in full screen when you double-click them. If you have a Slideshow file, open PowerPoint first, and then select Open to open the file.
Click the Office Button and select Save As. Select Other Formats. Under “Save as type,” select Device Independent Bitmap and click Save. When prompted, opt to save all your slides in this format.
A new folder is created containing your slides. You may want to move this to your Pictures folder. Next, right-click a blank area on your desktop and select Personalize. Click Screen Saver. In the drop down list, select Photos. Click Settings.
Select “Use pictures and videos from.” Click Browse and find the folder containing your slide images. Select it and click OK. Select the theme you’d like. Click Save. Click OK. Keep in mind that you’ll lose transitions and audio from the presentation.

If you’re using an earlier version of PowerPoint than 2007,You can use Windows' "My Pictures Slideshow" screen saver option. This is a Windows function. That’s why it is not in the PowerPoint menus.
First, you'll need to convert the slides into digital images. To do that, open the PowerPoint slide show. Click File>>Save As. In the "Save as type" box, select Device Independent Bitmap (.bmp).
In the "Save in" box, click the Create New Folder button in the top menu. Then click Save. You'll be prompted to save all the slides or the current slide. Click Every Slide. In PowerPoint 2000, just click Yes. It is important that no other pictures be placed in the new folder. The Windows screen saver will show whatever is in this folder.
Now you can make the screen saver.
Click Start>>Control Panel. Double-click Display. Select the Screen Saver tab. Under "Screen saver," select My Pictures Slideshow. Click Settings. Under "Use pictures in this folder," click Browse. Select the folder where you saved the PowerPoint slides and click OK. Click OK twice more and you’re done.
That's all there is to it. The only catch is that PowerPoint special effects don't transfer to the screen saver.
