MS is having a bad time this year with updates, this is at least no. 7 this year. Here's the link: LinkWindows 7 & 8 . . . & some server versions are affected. Maybe MS could take a few pointers from Red Hat (Raleigh NC) or Canonical (London) or Suse (Nuremburg).

I have a couple computers that I found out didn't have windows service pak 1 on. Some reason they always fail with a error code. Looking at good old google many other have had the same problem. Well I tried about a dozen fixes and non worked so I chose the computer with the least amount of things to reinstall. I put back on windows 7 and this time the service pack came thru fine. Some reason some files that the service pak needs to install get deleted along the way. This can be due to some other updates that Microsoft installed.
My favorite quote from me is " and I do this for fun and entertainment ".
Giving Greg a feather in his hat I do say windows can be a real pain at times.

Here I another good one.
In my update icon it says updates available. It has the windows 10 preview as a update file. Two gigs of problems if someone downloads it and don't know what the preview does and they crash their system. You cant back out of those preview operating systems. the update don't say download it just says install on mine.
Again updaters beware!!

I must be one of the lucky few -- very large update, but went without a problem. I do think things get corrupted over time -- that was my desktop's problem a year ago. A good format & clean reinstall worked wonders.
