Win 10 has now been around awhile. So, what is the consensus? Should I accept the "free" upgrade or not? Will I have to, once again, learn a new MSWord software? Methinks MS has too many employees with too much time on their hands and do not want Bill to know that they have too much time and not enough to do.

It's story time, everyone! For the past few days I have been backing up my data to reformat my drive and reload Win 7 onto it. It has been running slow, and I haven't found a specific cause. It is a 2010 Dell studio 17 laptop. It won't print anything either. Yes, my phone and my wife's phone can print things all day long, so I know it's the laptop and nothing else. So, this past Friday comes along and I get a message saying MS is ready to download and install Win10. So I say, go ahead, it can't make matters worse, and all I have to do is wipe and reload if I don't like the new look. I started the install process before I went to bed on Friday night, about 11:30 pm, and I woke up and checked it in the morning. I did the "stupid user" route. I just pushed the button and said "what the hell". When it booted up it went through the first time user process many of you have witnessed. It booted up noticeably faster than before. My only concern was regarding what you have read above. I only have one windows computer so I can't speak on what Dennis said about multiple accounts. I know the excitement is building... Um, The install worked. I mean it worked really smoothly. I can't complain at all. The install found all of my devices and installed drivers for them. Even when I purposely didn't install the camera drivers under win 7.. (I didn't need them and was a bit paranoid about peeping cameras). My Epson workforce pro 4530 printer works now too. So, that's a nice bonus as well. You probably noticed this too. It didn't wipe the drive, it copied all of the app settings from Win 7 into Win 10. It also renamed the old Windows folder to Windows.old. I don't know if it was the last action it did, but it did the rename at 3:27 am on Saturday morning. I'm glad I decided not to stay up and watch it. snore..... We have been using user logins at our house on Win 7 and it imported each account setting into Win 10 too. Each user account is exactly where I left it the night before. I logged in with my same password, too. One thing I was worried about was that it would do an "upgrade" and not a "fresh" install of Win 10. I believe that the results I gave above indicate that it did do a fresh system install, even if it didn't wipe the drive first. Obviously, results will vary, but I hope everyone's install went or will go as smoothly as mine. Now, maybe I should back it up before I break it???
