I received an email, ostensibly from Cox. Is it legitimate? Here is the whole email:
Subject: Cox Customer Safety -- [8.2.2015 26074253] Compromised Computer Notification from Cox Communications Dear Subscriber, Cox has identified that one or more of the computers behind your cable modem are likely infected with the Zeus Trojan/bot, also known as Zbot. While this malicious software is not new, it still poses a great risk to your computer and files that reside on your hard drive. Zeus malware uses keylogging in order to access user names and passwords and infected over 13 million computers worldwide.
I also received, again ostensibly from Cox, the following:
Control Panel - All Control Panel Items - Action Center
It tells me that there are problems on my computer that have not been reported to Microsoft. Some of the problems might have solutions available. And, there is a button labeled "Check for solutions". I also have the option of "Ignore this message" or "View problems to report".
Are these legitimate? What do I do with them?

Well, there is a real Zeus Trojen (according to Symantec).
Suggest to do at least two things:
1). Contact by phone, Cox's Technical Support group and inquire if they can verify email (do you run an Antivirus program provided by Cox?). Do they monitor your system remotely via their customer network?
2). Do what the techs at Cox say (e.g., run specific AV or other malware repair program.

Good idea. Why didn't I think of that? (Maybe because of the menu lady?) I'll do it. Thanks.
