Some really cool new devices available this year for techie "enthusiasts" . . . . worth getting when timing is right (imho) And, here's even a more interesting product (proboards won't direct render this particular video, so here's a link to Amazon site . . be sure to watch videos! Really impressive. Not sure, though, what it does that my very smart phone won't do, but I only watched the video.

Well, it takes tech to a least one higher-level than a smart phone, even if someone was a mobile guru/hacker. For example:
> Input: far field microphones (voice recognition from other rooms etc.). This is very technically tough to do well . . separate voice from ambient noise. > Output: first rate speaker w/noise reduction and surround sound (for playing pandora etc., and not requiring a separate blue tooth speaker) > Pre-programmed with AI (learns relational keyword patterns, etc.) > Pre-programmed for config'ing with home smart controllers (Belkin, Phillips, etc.) to control lights, switches, etc. with voice command. > Web interface: doesn't require accessing particular websites for input (like Google or Bing or Cortana invocation)
Desired and/or future possibilities include replacing a roku, chomecast, amazon-fire etc. to handle media management (perhaps even recording). Do what On-Hub device does?? If this sells . . what will versions 2, 3, 4 etc. bring?
On the downside, it isn't as mobile as a smart phone, and it's not pre-configured to work as a phone (it may work with VOIP but don't know for sure)
But, the AI possiblities are what's interesting. I'd like to learn more about the internals (cpu, bus, wireless (can it act as AP, Extender, Gateway?? - see comment re desired features above))

Very tempting, for sure. It seems to be getting to the point that I have so many (not all) of these capabilities with various machines As I mentioned before, I have the smart phone, and then a smart tv, way too many remotes, a couple bluetooth speakers, etc. It is frustrating to see one machine that can do all these things. Hmmm--maybe a garage sale??

I have a friend that literally sells everything extra (2 phones, 1's going to be on ebay or craig's list). While I'm not a hoarder (too German) . . . . I tend to give stuff to Goodwill or our Church if we have too much of something (meaning 3 or 4 of the same thing). BUT . . computers are an exception, as I have 1 desktop, and 3 laptops (but am not ready to part with any just yet.
Did you ever sell your Chromebook?

No, not yet. May still keep it. I just need to take time to learn the basics. Someday I will catch up. We have two desktops & various tablets. Must find a day with more hours.
