Curiously, I'm starting to like Win10. I have had a couple moments, but have worked thru them and learned that Win10 may be new, but it isn't smart -- yet.
My C: & D: drives are 1 physical drive and C: was getting full and D: had extra room -- so AFTER copying D to another physically separate harddrive, I assumed the admin's hat and made one drive smaller and one drive bigger. If you have never done this -- don't be afraid - but call Dennis F. if you have problems. OK -- don't call Dennis F. Google for a how-to-guide, PRINT a copy, and follow it.
Oh S**T #1. booting up having done the above. Somehow - it lost the 'bootmgr' and would not start. Used a recovery CD from Win7 2011 and it installed some unknown files and wanted to reboot. Reboot found the Win10 backup file, installed it, and I was back up. Whew!!
Oh S**t #2. Where is my music - I have more than 3 albums!! Downloaded VLC and it also found only 3 albums. Googling the problem lead to many others also complaining. Not much help -- and I finally figured it out all by myself. Win10 only looks at your C: --- and most of my music is on D: Using the options - I was able to add D:/trudy/my music to where Media Player looks for files.
Which leads to one thing I really don't like about Win10 -- the 'find' command. I want to 'find' on my computer not search the Internet!!! Don't see a way to turn it off - but will continue to look. And when searching -- it shows the file but not the complete path! So, how is that helping, if I know I have it - but still don't know where it is!
So far -- all my programs work fine and I can still multi-task between open programs. Even that old program "Screen Capturer" works [thank goodness!].
SO maybe 'aftermath' is a bit strong - but with numerous examples of hyperbole floating around these days, I just couldn't resist.
