It ate my Free Cell and Spider Solitaire. EVERYTHING looks different, works different. It hassles me every time I call up something I haven't used for a while, because it destroyed all of the memory of where things are located. It didn't accept any of my links for Word, Excel, and I don't know what all yet. When I downloaded Windows 10, it put everything where MS thought it should go, instead of where I wanted it or where I had it. Talk about arrogance!!!!!!!!!!!
And Cox Communications is doing a similar thing. They shut off all of my TV sets because I'm d**ned if I'll pay another $24 per year per set when I seldom use them. Arrogant SOBs.

This is one of the very real and negative consequences of the ever increasing control that a Monopoly has over our everyday lives. One of the biggest and worst is certainly Microsoft, but our society has sort of a collective "Stockholm" syndrome going on. The more MS & Cox abuse the free market, the more we just make excuses and continue to use their products. Good for you in standing up against them!
Am I anti Cox, MS and even CenturyLink ? . . . yes I am, because I know that at least in some cases, there are better options.
Canonical (the "for profit" company behind Ubuntu) treats it's customers a whole lot better than these monopolies. A simple and working OS . . . . which has never crashed on me, never had a virus and never pressures you to do something you don't want to do. But that old saying is clearly true "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" . . . . . .
PS: if we HAVE to have monopolies like MS . . . let's at lease do what we used to do in the 50's with "Ma Bell" . . . . have a PSC (Public Service Commission) to mitigate their excesses. (or just start enforcing the 1887 Sherman Anti-trust Act).
