This has "some" of the hallmarks of Microsoft's "FUD" campaign (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) against competing Operating Systems (Apple, Linux, Android), . . . really any OS that lives in "Consumer Land".
Up until about 2006 or 2007, this FUD also included business and government but MS has lost that part of the battle (along with phone). Business's, Gov't, etc. has informed MS to "cooperate" (or else) . . . . now we have competition there and in the Cloud. But in the cable market there are still only sponsored monopolies.
There is some good news on the horizon however (the "cut the cable" movement). See my next thread about "Plluto.TV . . . . an outstanding streaming service (best there is imho).
