Mom could no longer turn the on/off switch for her favorite lamp -- and replacing the switch did not help. She just doesn't have enough strength! At Target - for $15.29 - I found a GE 18278 Outlet with Keychain Remote. Plug outlet into wall, plug lamp into outlet, install provided battery into remote -- and mom is thrilled. Her reading lamp works and she can turn it on/off at will.
Here is picture of it - outlet is sort of bulky but I was still able to use the other outlet for something else. Remote is nice and small and works easily. Something to think about as we age - and don't want to [or can't] change whole outlets to be controlled remotely.
