something has changed. Browser(IE 6.0) on win 2000pro. when starting I.E. it take one minute or more to get to home page. seems to wait for ?? page? connection? mouse movement? I been over (2 Days) the computer cleaning and defragging. Nada. Reset defaults in I.E. , ran spy bot. Up dated 2000 & IE. AS of 4-28 ...found some more (later) Win Updates. install Zone Alarm with Anti Virus & anti SPY ware --trial. It found a Trojan -deleted it cleaned up some other stuff too. win knowledge base said I.E, has had this problem(browser #2 event)or some such thing since I.E>. 4.0 BUT WAS supposed to be fixed in I.E. 6.0 sp1........................................................... dilbert

My next steps would be to use Hijack This and to look in the Windows prefetch folder for potentially nasty exe files

loaded Highjack This. didn't see any thing that shouldn't be there. Windows prefech is in XP. I'm using Win 2000pro. This is not a BOOT UP that is taking too long, it is a my browser (I.E. 6.0). Every new window hangs for about one minute.

If you haven't already, install and run CCleaner www.ccleaner.com/It stands for Crap Cleaner, and it does a great job of removing internet trash that your browser also has to wade through.
