You can find a driver for sound blaster live cards that Creative labs doesn't support and won't make vista drivers for.
Go to google and searth for KX Project they are the makers of a Vista driver for the souldblaster live card .
The latest version is 3538 and it worked on my live value card.
Some earlier versions didn't allow record function this one does.
Also by default it switches your front and rear outputs but you can change that in its utility if you want.
I am sure this is one of many workarounds for drivers that will be needed to run vista on older machines.
I am sure i will be in garage sale heaven this year when everyone dumps thier old machines.
